Los Angeles, USA

The power of womanhood is often overlooked, with much of the world's attention focused on distractions. That’s why Cess and the creative minds behind her new music video, “What To Do Instead”, took the extra step to capture the unfiltered chaos of being a woman and femme. By combining personal videos from women around the world, Cess has created an intimate and powerful insight into the stress, chaos, and joy that comes with being a woman.

“When it came to creating my latest music video, I knew that I wanted to showcase the raw and unfiltered perspective of different types of women. I wrote this song about being a sad woman still dealing with body dysmorphia but wanting to be a fun woman who goes out and forgets about their problems. That's when I decided to enlist the help of girls and femmes around the world to take on the role of creative directing,” shares Cess.

“With the help of these incredible beings,” she continues, “we were able to bring together an amazing array of intimate and personal videos that showcased the chaos, stress, and joy of being a woman. We wanted to capture those moments that we often keep hidden from the world – the moments when we let down our guard and allow ourselves to be vulnerable.”

When asked about some of the challenges of creating a music video this, Cess opened up, “One of the biggest challenges of filming this music video was bringing all of these different videos together in a way that felt cohesive. However, with the guidance of our creative directors, we were able to weave together these individual moments into a larger story.”

The final result was something that Cess will never forget. “In the end,” she concluds, “I couldn't be more proud of what we were able to create. The collaboration between myself and these incredible individuals helped to bring to life something truly unique and special. I hope that viewers will be able to understand and appreciate for the complexity of being a woman.”
