Reckless goes behind the scenes of Jenny Kwon’s upcoming music video for “Hollywood”. Jenny talks about working with a crew of 20 people, prosthetics, and taking this project to a whole other level.

Los Angeles, USA

You caught up with Reckless last summer with your video premiere for, "Honey". How have you been since then? What have you been up to?

I’ve been amazing! Working on new music and just new creative projects in general, but also actually learning how to live my life outside of music. I think it’s a skill that is so important to have in this industry and I’m glad to have learned it sooner than later. I also went through a break up since then and some details of that may be in an upcoming EP *cough*

How have you been learning and growing?

I feel like all my life I’ve viewed music as a very competitive part of my life and something I needed to be perfect at. but at some point I got so burnt out because I always felt like I wasn’t doing enough. Unlearning that has been such a tough but fulfilling journey! It’s made the process of making music so much more genuine and sustainable.

You filmed the music video to your upcoming single, 'Hollywood'. What is the story behind the video?

This new upcoming music video for the song “Hollywood” is directed by Zev Rose, who worked with me in my prior video for “Honey” last year. We were able to make this project a whole Nother level with the help of West 36 productions! The music video is a story of a young star that moves to Hollywood and realizes the truth of it all. It’s a very bizarre and hilarious video, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it!

How was filming the video? What were some struggles and memorable moments?

We had a crew of about 20 people that shoot who were all amazing and perfect! I’m so happy to be able to work with such talented individuals that want to invest in independent queer projects. A part of this music video that was a little bit difficult for me was the fact that I had prosthetics on for a majority of the video and we filmed during the summer in LA! It was very hot and sweaty. But it was all worth it!

How does this compare to your music video for “Honey"?

Honey was a pretty and romantic video that highlighted the beautiful parts of being in a queer relationship. Hollywood is on a quite different part of the spectrum with with super crazy and almost camp elements. Be prepared to scream and laugh and also maybe even cry. Well actually no I think that last one will be me when it comes out.

What's next for you?

Hollywood is the second single off of my upcoming EP! I have the first single coming out on July 27 called “The Weed Song”, with “Hollywood” coming out the month after. There is so much new music in store and I’m so excited for people to hear the best music I’ve made yet.
